Not likely: If the "external cause" is on-going then you will experience insomnia. Otherwise, you should be fine.

No: Insomnia is generally understood to be a CHRONIC and PERSISTENT condition of not being able to either fall asleep or stay asleep. 1 single sleepless night does not insomnia make. Just as 1seizure episode does not epilepsy make....Therefore, 1 sleepless= 1 sleepless night. If it becomes an every night affair then, there are going to be bigger problems.
