Control blood sugar!: Diabetic neuropathy can be painful and is often a sign that your blood sugar is too high. Find good Tx for it even if you feel confused. But do keep asking the Dr for a clear explanation of your condition, what to do/not do, what to expect, etc. It can take time, but it's worth it!
