Potentially forever.: Contrary to what many people think, menopause is not a phase. Once your ovaries stop working, and stop producing estrogen and progesterone...That's forever. Some women don't have any hot flashes, some have them temporarily, and some have them for as long as they live. Of course, treatment with bioidentical hormones completely resolves the hot flashes and many other symptoms of menopause.

Years: Unfortunately for some women, it can go for many years. I have few patients in their 70-80ies even, but for most the symptoms will subside in 5-10 years. There are several natural remedies that are safe and work.

Hot flash duration: On average, hot flashes last about 2 years after menopause if not treated with medications or hormones to reduce them. Some women will always have hot flashes now and then no matter how much time has passed since menopause. And some women continue to have them even with treatment. Stress is one of the biggest reasons for continued hot flashes
