A member asked:

What is the treatment for dysautonomia? can dysautonomia cause apathy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Symptom, not disease: "Dysautonomia"=abnormal function of autonomic nervous system affecting automatic functions, eg.heart rate, blood pressure. Can happen when an illness (some mild, some severe)affects the nervous system.Treatment of underlying illness can help.Sometimes we give meds to control the blood pressure or heart rate.Apathy can occur as part of underlying illness, eg.Parkinson's, or can be unrelated depression
