Risk factors: Balloon valvuloplasty is usually a temporary measure for patients that may be too high risk for surgery or have some temporary problem that precludes surgery at that time. It may also be done to see if it helps symptoms improve. In general though it's effects are usually only temporary, not generally long lasting or a definitive solution.
