Common: The bacteria that live on your skin digest sweat and excrete a metabolite similar to acetic acid, which is essentially vinegar. Be sure to wash your arm and brace frequently. Consider using corn starch or baby powder to help absorb the sweat.

Bacteria and acids: Sweat or body odor can have a vinegar-like smell due to the breakdown of Amino Acids by a certain type of bacteria. This results in proprionic acid, which has a similar structure to Acetic Acid (the acid found in vinegar). The human skin is host of several species of bacteria known as propionibacteria, which are named after their ability to produce propanoic acid. They also cause acne!
