Quite Normal: 16 year old female, feels pain in right ovary a week or two before and after period starts and ends asks is this normal. Quite normal, something called Mittelschmertz or Middle pain; occurs at mid-cycle, at ovulation time on the side of the ovary releasing its egg in about 20% of menstruating women. Usually not on one side alone.
