Warning: The most important adverse effect is depressed brain function that controls breathing. If your husband has sleep apnea, copd, or any other medical problem that affects breathing then the risk is exponentially higher. Usually, clonazepam is slowly built up to therapeutic levels in patients because of its high side effect profile. The peak activity level will be in 1-4hrs after ingestion

Not to worry: Sedation or drowsiness is the most common side effect of this medication. Four milligrams of Klonopin (clonazepam) is not fatal and not likely to cause any permanent injury. Slurring of the speech and gait disturbance can also occur. Don't let your husband drive or drink any alcohol. After a period of time, the effects will wear off. Also, notify your husband's doctor for more instructions. Best wishes!
