A member asked:

Can someone be hospitalized for anorexia?

Yes: Depending on the other physical and laboratory findings, there are times when a person with anorexia would require hospitalization so that in-patient therapy as well as healthy and monitored caloric intake can take place. Anorexia is very serious and needs to be managed appropriately.

Yes: People with severe and advanced anorexia may be sent to an inpatient program for treatment, or to a hospital program. It is impossible to think on a starved brain and the disease can progress to the point at which hospitalization and intensive intervention (such as a feeding tube) is necessary.
