A member asked:

Are colon cancer and prostate cancer the same thing?

No: Both are cancers -- genetically altered cells that have acquired the power to invade and spread. Each has a variety of subtypes, each in turn with its own "personality". The way they look and the way the are best managed are widely variable.

Colon and Prostate C: No, each originates from a different place. Colon cancer originates from the inner surface of the colon, the mucosa and prostate cancer originates from the glands of the prostate. The colon is a part of the gastrointestinal system while the prostate is part of the genitourinary tract.
