Cervical stenosis: The cervical region is the neck area and the lumbar region is the lower back. Stenosis is narrowing of the spinal canal which can occur in both regions due to overgrowth of bone.

Neck vs back: Cervical spinal stenosis occurs in theme k and can cause neck pain, headaches, and pain running into the arms. In severe cases it can cause heaviness and I coordination in the legs. Lumbar stenosis occurs in the back and can cause back and hip/leg pain. A person with lumbar stenosis will often lean forward when they walk and so you can see them leaning on a cart at the grocery store.

Location.: Spinal stenosis is the narrowing of the spinal canal(usually due to degenerative arthritic changes) resulting in varying compression on the spinal cord or nerve roots, which causes symptoms based on the severity and the vertebral level(s) involved. Cervical stenosis occurs in the cervical spine(neck), lumbar stenosis occurs in the lumbar spine(low back).
