What is the difference between a colonoscopy and a proctoscopy?

Colonoscopy: The colon is roughly 3-5 long depending on individual. A proctoscopy looks at the angus and rectum only (first 4-6 inches). A colonoscopy uses a fiber optic camera to try and look at the entire length of the colon. With a colonoscopy you most likely will have it done in a endoscopy suite under sedation while a proctoscopy can be done in the doctors office.
