Deconditioning: It is probably due to a combination of weakness (deconditioning) of your leg muscles and your being a bit overweight. Even thin people can suffer from this problem due to deconditioning. It is common for people to begin having this problem as they get older, especially if they are not getting enough exercise. Go for a walk daily and start doing some squatting exercises to improve your strength

Leg weakness/weight: Standing from a squatting position requires much strength in the quads and glute muscles. Losing weight will help as will some strengthening exercises for the glutes and quads-leg lifts, modified squats (where you don't go down as low). This can also be normal if you are not used to doing a structured exercise program.
