Infection?: Consider the possibility of a retained tampon. I see this often! You can check yourself manually and, if a tampon is stuck in there, you might be able to remove it yourself. My other concern is a pelvic infection--this requires prompt evaluation & treatment. Regardless, persistent pain and/or discharge requires medical attention.
