Vertical/ Horizontal: We immediately think vertical growth with the mention of a "growth spurt". No, linear growth does not happen in the 30's for any of us. He MUST have been thinking about overall weight gain, and with his gentle bedside manner attributing some of this to "hormones". The fact of the matter is that our modern lifestyle of sedentary work, eating large portions of calorie dense food is the culprit.
