Secondary amenorrhea: Menstrual cycles that have ceased for 6 months or longer is considered secondary amenorrhea and warrants evaluation. Possible causes include excessive or inadequate weight, severe emotional distress, certain drugs, hormonal imbalances, previous procedures and tumors.
