Prolonged periods: are common among women who have annovulatory cycles, and are not reason for concern, unless bleeding is heavy. A prolonged period can cause a woman to develop anemia, especially if the bleeding is heavy. Make sure your diet is rich in iron, and consider taking an iron supplement during your period. If you feel more weak, tired, or lightheaded than usual, have your hemoglobin checked.
