Not necessarily.: People who follow the"Mediterranean diet" may have lower rates of cardiovascular disease (hardening of the arteries). it's not clear whether it's the olive oil or the other components of this diet that are beneficial. It's more important to limit total fat and calories, stay physically active and choose fresh fruits & veggies and whole grain foods than to dose yourself with olive oil.
