No: The academy of general dentistry is a subscription organization open to all dentists. It does have continuing education requirements. Board certification is granted to dentists who have 2-5 years additional specialty training in a university or hospital setting, and carries with it a much higher level of concentration, education, and continuing education.

Dental Institution: Agd is the acronym for the academy of general dentistry. It is an institution of higher learning and continuing education for general dentists that strive to stay at the top of their game. There are levels of attainment, all the way to fellowship. Each level has requirements, which are of increasing difficulty. Overall, a great institution that helps promote quality dentists all over the usa.

Yes in a way: The agd designations are given as a dentist accumulates continuing education. A specialist has formal training in a specialty program rather than accumulating ce but both show a desire to continue to learn and increase skills in the field of emphasis or specialty. To many general dentists they feel it is their equivalent of specialty . Most true specialists would disagree but shame on us!

An achievement: Agd, or the academy of general dentistry, is not a form of board certification program. The agd is a professional association of general dentists dedicated to providing quality dental care and oral health education to the public. Agd member dentists take hundreds of hours of continuing education to earn their fellowship and mastership in the agd.

An AGD DDS/DMD: I've been and agd dentist for 30 years. It means this dds/dmd has committed themselves to two or three times the continuing education required by their state licensing board .This means that this professional wants to stay current with all the latest information to treat you the best they can. They do this for your benefit . What other professional you see does this. Ask.
