Avoid High Doses: I believe each capsule of zzzQuil is 25mg of diphenhydramine which is a sedative 1st generation antihistamine. I would not routinely take 75mg of diphenhydramine as this is a high dose and can be very sedating. Relying on this med for sleep is not a long term solution as it has been shown that these medications alter sleep patterns and don't provide restful sleep. Better sleep hygiene recommended.
