Really depends: On what's causing your dark spots. Some spots are related to pigmented lesions like moles, others are from sun damage, or after inflammation, or related to hormonal changes. The ideal way to treat a "dark spot" really does require some understanding of what's causing them.

VisualDX: Hi, it’s hard to say without a picture but there is a great app that may be able to help you get a diagnosis without being seen in person by a dermatologist. The app is called VisualDX and is one of the best, if not the best out there. Many clinicians, including myself, use it. Just snap a photo and it gives you a list of possible diagnoses. Good luck!

Several things: Symptoms and concerns like these mandate a thorough evaluation by your doctor. Only after such an evaluation, which may include labs and radiographic examinations, can he/she let you know what's going on and how best to help you.
