Will Improve: Resolution can depend on severity but most "bulging discs" improve over time. Short-term treatment with NSAIDs is helpful as well as temporary activity modification, including avoidance of provocative activities like lifting a heavy baby. I would have mom avoid heavy if this is a recent diagnosis. Low impact physical activities like swimming/water aerobics can also be helpful. Consult with doctor.
