I would not: recommend Lomotil (diphenoxylat and atropine) for a child. There are side effects to this medication. Depending on the cause of the diarrhea, you should just give the child a more binding diet (BRAT), fluids, stay off dairy and make sure he/she is not getting dehydrated (make sure he/she is urinating). See her doctor if it's persistent or if there is fever, blood in stool or vomiting.
