Low risk of heart dz: 200mg/dl is not a desirable total cholesterol but rather highest that is "acceptable". In fact, lower is better so your 140mg/dl is actually quite impressive. However, we tend to focus on LDL (bad) & HDL (good) cholesterol. You want less of lousy stuff and higher amounts of healthy. Lower LDL & higher HDL is associated w/lower risk of heart disease. Purposefully lowering LDL shown to be good for u.
