A member asked:

Does breastfeeding really work as a birth control? ? if so how?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not dependable: Breast feeding has been shown to stop ovulation (egg release) in some women for a variable amount of time. However, if you are looking for a dependable birth control method, this is not. You would never be able to predict when the ovulation would resume, and that might be your surprise pregnancy.
