The red eye: Swollen eye blood vessels can be a sign of inflammation. Sclera = white part of the eye, Redness easily noticed. Allergic conjunctivitis(AC): redness all over itching and mild discharge. Episcleritis locally red only. Scleritis: pain and affects vision: serious. AC is common; Patanol (olopatadine) helps. If not work, and allergens gone (check w/ allergist) see eye doctor (slit lamp exam) fast.
