This is very serious: Don't focus on the sed rate. The cause of an anemia is never "obvious" unless a person is hemorrhaging, but any of my 1st-year medical students knows how to proceed with a competent workup, speedy without a family member feeling they have to go to HealthTap. If Mom's asking the question, she needs a different physician -- who who'll either do the workup or is a better communicator-explainer.
