A member asked:

I'm allergeic to cats: can constant exposure to cat allergen in my house (1 cat and 6 dogs) be the cause for prolonged/permanently enlarged nodes?

Not Likely: Allergic rhinitis symptoms include: sneezing, rhinorrhea, nasal obstruction/itching, postnasal drip, cough, irritability, and fatigue. Some patients experience itching of the palate and inner ear as well as allergic conjunctivitis symptoms including eye itching, tearing, and/or burning. Persistently enlarged lymph nodes are not a common manifestation on this condition, even with prolonged exposure

Unusual but: Make sure you don't have cat scratch fever which can cause large nodes for a long time if left untreated.
