A member asked:

Back pain from scapula down, sore throat, headache, chills and shivers, mood swings, but no fever, is meningitis still a possibility?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: Hi. There are many types of meningitis, some of which are not associated with fever. Fortunately, meningitis is rather uncommon. Any neck stiffness? Bothered by looking at bright lights? Cough or night sweats? You should see your doctor. A spinal fluid analysis may be indicated (or not - your doc will advise you on this). It may just be a pharyngitis with muscular back ache. Ask your doc. Good luck
