Ovarian cyst: Pain in ovaries that starts during sex is likely due to an ovarian cyst. Ovarian cysts form every month in healthy young women. Normal ovaries may be filled with small cysts (known as "functional cysts"). Once in a while, a cyst will become large and may cause pain due to pressure on surrounding tissues. Ovarian cysts generally resolve on their own in 3-4 weeks, but an enlarged cyst may rupture.
