Dehydration, etc.: The most common cause of muscle cramping is dehydration. Staying well hydrated is extremely important. Cramping in one leg can also result from: holding it in the same position for too long, especially an awkward position; physical exertion shortly after eating; or physical exercise without proper warm-up and stretching before and after.
