I go to pro shops for tattoos. ink is said to be nontoxic and organic pigments with <1 parts per mission of various heavy metals. is this safe?

The FDA issued a warning about tattoo inks , citing risk of contamination as well as a reaction to the ink .There are chemicals in the ink which might possibly be carcinogens , though it has not been proven .Black ink can be specially dangerous as it has a high level of a carcinogenic chemical .Most states have strict standards for tattoo shops. So make sure the shop follows guidelines .
