Muscles/joint/tooth: Can be one or many causes for this.At your age, the most common is wisdom tooth pain. The next is muscle spasm in the muscles of mastication (jaw closing muscles) - this can be a result of clenching and grinding. The third is the TMJ - your jaw joint in front of your ears on both sides. This can also be a result of clenching, grinding and trauma. See the Oral Surgeon first for evaluation. Good Luck

TMJ syndrome: Temporo-mandibular syndrome is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. Trouble opening and moving your jaw, facial numbness, popping/clicking noise in the jaw joint and jaw pain are the common symptoms. Proper diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. See Orofacial Pain practitioner for a consultation and treatment options.
