A member asked:

Why do so many women have their period while they are pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A misunderstanding: Bleeding in early pregnancy is not uncommon and sometimes we can identify the cause and often we can't. if the pregnancy proceeds to develop normally there is no cause for alarm. It is a misperception to call this bleeding a period however. It cannot be a period because that would mean you are not pregnant.
