A member asked:

Years ago i had a severe allergic reaction to cinobac which is in some way related to cipro (ciprofloxacin). can i safely take cipro (ciprofloxacin)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Cinobac belongs to the quinolones family of drugs, same as cipro (ciprofloxacin). Generally when you're allergic to one drug in the family, you may be allergic to the other drugs in that family since they're often molecularly similar. So you'd be advised not to take Cipro (ciprofloxacin) unless you're tested or monitored for an allergic reaction.
