A member asked:

Can you get heartburn 3-4 hours after a meal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not atypical...: May depend on the rate your stomach empties--which in turn is partly dependent on volume and composition of your meal. If just indigestion, then antacids consumed 1 & 3 hours after a meal may work in your case, but acid blocker drugs will likely provide longer lasting benefit. If any doubt, or symptoms are atypical, see your doctor for formal evaluation.
