Bleeding: Abnormal bleeding can happen when you first start the pills. Make sure you do not miss any and that you take them at the same time everyday. It usually takes 3-6months before you find out what your cycles will end up being. Keep a menstrual calendar to keep track of what is happening. This way you can provide feed back to your doc when you go for follow up/pill check appointment.

Few months: It could take a few months for your body to regulate itself with the menstrual cycle. Three weeks is long time though. If that repeats, maybe you need to bring this up with your gynecologist.
