No pain: The adrenal glands sit as caps on the top of the kidney, both left and right. For the most part tumors of adrenal do not cause pain. Rather they secrete adrenaline and analogues if arising in the medulla, and steroids if cortical in origin. When functional or large , resection is recommended. Since the lesions arise just behind the 12 rib, resection thru rib bed can be accomplished quickly.
