Cold virus: Most sore throats, especially in adults, are due to a cold virus and don't require antibiotics. You can treat a sore throat with Cepacol Extra Strength Throat Lozenges. A strep throat is bacterial and usually treated with antibiotics. The following scoring system is used: 1 point for each if present: fever, white pus on tonsils, tender cervical glads, no cough
