A member asked:

Can holding your breath for too long cause heart arrhythmias or reset your heartbeat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually not: usually holding your breath will not affect your heart rate. However if you hold your breath and bear down at the same time, your heart rate normally slows. If you have certain types of tachycardia this can reset your heartbeat to normal rhythm.
