Need recovery time: 21 year old female missed 2 periods, home test negative, been on BC for 7 years wants to know what's wrong; probably nothing. 7 years BC means was 14 years or so when started pills. BCP's are hormones which interfere with female normal ovulation and hormone cycles; will probably need more time for body to recover and establish a new cycle for ovulation and pregnancy

Amenorrhea: At your age, it is common to have irregular menses. If you missed a pill that could cause you to miss a period. You have taken birth control for 7 years and your body gets used to the exogenous hormones in your birth control pills. I have many patients where strenuous exercise and or stress will cause irregular periods. This is due to the irregular fluctuation of hormones at this time.
