A member asked:

How is chlamydia in the throat diagnosed besides a throat swab?

Pharyngitis: We don't see chlamydia of the throat. Gonorrhea of the throat however, does happen. A lot of people who have gonorrhea of the urethra (male) or cervix (female) have it detected thru either genital swabs or urine testing that specifically tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Gonorrhea of throat is picked up on a swab also.

Not possible: Dr. Lawson's repl is exactly right. I'll add that there is no way to diagnose oral chlamydia except by throat swab. However, such testing isn't generally recommended anyway. Although chlamydia can be found in the throat, that's rarely the only site of infection. And if you have genital chlamydia, the treatment will take care of an oral infection if present.
