Real Thing: Sarcoidosis can effect many different organs including the lungs, skin, heart and eyes most commonly. It can also cause elevations in serum calcium. Problems arise by the formation of granulomas, which are collection of immune cells within the organs. It is often treated with steroids to reduce inflammation and often self resolves after years. It is still not completely known what causes it.
