My 13 month old was just switched over to whole milk recently and is having yellow diarrhea now. lactose intolerance or more likely infection?

Diarrhea: it may be a touch of viral gastroenteritis, but more likely it is a reaction to the switch to whole milk. It is doubtful it is lactose intolerance if your son previously on regular formulas which are lactose based. If he was Breast fed or had problems with formulas and had to be on soy based formulas this could be a problem . I generally have moms slowly add whole milk with formula to avoid this.

May be too "early": Its doubtful that "infection:" would be playing a role without other symptoms...more likely it is lactose intolerance however this may be temporary! Try going back to formula for another 3 months and try again CHECK WITH YOUR PEDIATRICIAN ABOUT THIS "ADVICE"!! Hope this helps Dr Z
