Yes: second hand smoke can cause or trigger asthma in those around the smoker, and second hand smoke can be worse for those around the smoker- because of what they may be inhaling. May I suggest you smoke out doors if possible and be considerate of others by not smoking around anyone.

Risks less but there: While the odds are less, secondhand smoke has been linked to the development of emphysema and heart disease, just like smoking. So not as intensely risky as smoking, but still risky. People who live with smokers do need to be careful and mind their own health.
