Clots but not bleed: they can increase risk of blood clot and stoke esp in women over 35 and in smokers. Should not cause increase bleeding with period. We actually use them to help reduce painful periods or excessive bleeding with periods. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck. Dr. R

Your periods...: ...are usually lighter on OCPs, especially after you have been on them several months. An occasional heavy period can be normal, but if it happens more than a few times a year, I might consider trying a different pill.

Nothing is permanent: It is the beauty of Living things that medical science is not like mathematics. Yes BCP causes Clots: that is it thickens the blood and there is a chance of Clot in Veins e.g in legs, Not the Menstrual Clot. Usually BCP causes lighter bleeding. But your periods are also ok. Nothing to be worried about. Stay active and do not smoke. study well
