See a dermatologist: There are many possible causes of itching. An experienced dermatologist can help. Mast cells produce histamine which, in turn, causes itching. The challenge is to determine which allergen might be the trigger, or is there a primary mast cell disease (rare).

Many potential cause: For most patients with itching, I usually want to make sure that they are using a moisturizer immediately after bathing on a regular basis and try some topical anti-itch lotion. If not helpful, then a dermatology consult is indicated especially when there is no response to oral antihistamine.
