Chronic lung disease: babirs who are premature may benefit from the beclomethasone treatment. The hope is to prevent chronic lung disease. Remember premature babies don't have lungs that are ready or developed for breathing.

To prevent Asthma: The lungs of premature babies, esp those who are less than 1,500 gms, at birth, are prone to chronic lung disease and damage to cause asthma. Use of inhaled steroids like Beclomethasone has been shown to prevent that outcome.
