No: If your periods are regular, monthly, then not usually. You are not usually ovulating right after the period ends, so not the right timing for conception to occur. Irregular periods make it difficult or impossible to know when ovulation is occurring.

Ovulation: Yes. Of course. Ovulation, the release of a new egg happens just shy of half way through your cycle. The sperm left in the vagina on any of the five days leading up to ovulation can cause pregnancy.

Yes, Yes: If your period usually lasts 5-6 days then the week after your period would be day 7-14 of cycle. Women with 28 day cycles ovulate on day 14. Sperm can live in good mucus for up to a week. If you have intercourse on day 9 and ovulate on day 14 it is possible to conceive. The egg only lives about 12 hours. The day after you ovulate the chance to get pregnant goes way down.

Definitely: Yes, if you have unprotected sex with a fertile male you can definitely become pregnant. In fact. It's overwhelmingly the most common cause.
A 44-year-old member asked:

Can u get pregnant three weeks before your period?

1 doctor answer2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Dennis Higginbotham
Obstetrics and Gynecology 30 years experience
Unlikely: Conception takes place within 24 hours of ovulation. Ovulation takes place 14 days before the menstrual period starts. You would not ovulate 21 days before your period - so you could not conceive then. You could have sex, then 6 days later ovulate and have about a 3 in 1000 chance of conceiving - that would result in conception occurring 14 days before the period due to sex 20 days before it.
