Back pains: If the discomfort under the rib cage is in the right upper front abdomen, gall bladder disease is a probable cause. With mid or left upper abdominal discomfort, pancreatic pathology is a possibility. . Pain in the back and flank is characteristic of a kidney problem. A physician would evaluate you and order appropriate tests.
